As we see all of the scandals emerge with Benghazi, the IRS targeting of political groups, the DOJ seizure of AP phone records, and even Fast and Furious, let us not forget that the political beliefs of those on the left or the right should not be invalidated or demonized because individuals representing their particular political beliefs are proving to be untrustworthy.  The degree to which this administration may be involved in any or all of these scandals, the potential for criminal violations which may or may not exist, should not pollute our views of the political beliefs this administration and its supporters follow.  No matter what the political persuasion, leaders are capable of crossing lines, be they lines of civility, lines of legality, or Constitutional lines.

If this administration is found to be a principle behind any one of these scandals, those who oppose their political agenda should not delight in an American administration being corrupted and brought down by violating Constitutional Law.

While I personally hope, and even pray, that the agenda of this administration is not further advanced, and even that it gets reversed, I would not wish to see that accomplished by the sullying of the office of the Presidency and the Executive Branch of our own government.

If you are a praying person, please join me in praying for our leaders and for truth.  Let truth prevail, come what may.  If our President can be exonerated, let us pray for that to happen.  If our President cannot be exonerated, let us pray for our nation that we do not ruthlessly turn on one another, that we do not demonize one another because of the actions of individuals who do not represent, by themselves, the validity or invalidity of the political agenda they supported.

I write this today as I think about the historical aspect of this presidency.  Barack Obama is the first black president in our nation’s history.  This means something to me, and, I hope, it means something to you.

I do not support this President’s political agenda.  I do not have much admiration for his management style.  I am appalled at the demonization of his political opponents that he regularly engages in.  But I do not wish to see this President go down in scandal.  I hope and pray we are not seeing the beginning of the end of this historic presidency.  I would rather see it end in 2016 and his agenda end in 2014, through the ballot box.

Racism is and was a very real part of our history.  While we have come a long way, as can be testified by Americans voting for a black president, we have more work ahead of us to see a truly race-less community of Americans come to fruition, so that our nation may one day fulfill the unfulfilled promise that began July 4th, 1776 with the Declaration of Independence.  We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

If our first black president were to be impeached and removed from office through criminal prosecution, our nation will suffer greatly.  For those who oppose this President, it would be a pyrrhic victory at best.  It will give ammunition to those who truly are still under the old assumptions of many in American history, that there is such a thing as racial inferiority.  It will also give ammunition to those who use legitimate concerns about race in America to demonize others for simply not following their progressive ideology.

This time in our history is challenging, and those who celebrate with glee these emerging and ongoing scandals should take pause and think of the paths America could take if this President were to be brought down through scandal.  If, God forbid, this President violated the law, may he face the consequences of his actions.  But if he has, may God protect us from ourselves in the wake of such terrible events.

NATIONAL COMMENTARY-  Paul Collier

How Christians should approach the next four years- following the great commandment and the great commission and not fear and hate.

Barack Obama has been re-elected by the American people.  As of the writing of this article, it appears Obama will win both the electoral AND the popular vote, meaning the American people have spoken, at least a very slim majority.  This re-election of Obama has many conservatives, especially Christian conservatives afraid of what the next four years brings under a progressive President who now has nothing to check him from fully pursuing what looks to the other half of America as a decidedly anti-Christian, anti-Constitutional agenda.

Whether or not that is the actual case, an Obama Presidency has a significant proportion of Americans afraid of the future that waits for them.  Out of fear, I am seeing lots of anger.  Out of anger, I am seeing lots of hate.  Some of this hate is directed at the President, but much of it is directed at the people who voted to sustain the progressive agenda this President hopes to fulfill.

This is a message for the Christians who are reading.  If Christ is not your master, then what I write next will not be particularly relevent to you.

We, as the representatives of Christ, His hands and feet, are called to be witnesses to the King in all we do and say.  We have been given very specific instructions on how to conduct ourselves as citizens in our ‘natural’ kingdom (in this case, the United States of America) and how to represent the Kingdom of God as Christ’s Citizens.

We are called to obey our leaders so long as the rules they impose on us do not violate God’s commands.  We are called to honor and respect our leaders, for they rule by God’s grace.  For this reason, we should not be given to hate for our President, but we should honor and respect him, not because of who and what he is, but because we are witnesses to God’s truth through our actions.  Can we honor and respect an unjust leader?  If we can, what does that say about the power of our God that we are willing to do so merely because Christ commands us to?  After all, Paul the Apostle even exhorts slaves to honor and respect their masters, even the ones who treat them unjustly.

I am not, in this article, suggesting that President Obama is an unjust leader.  But, even if he is an unjust leader (and I’ll let my readers decide on that for themselves), he should still be given honor and respect, for we are really showing Christ honor and respect by how we conduct ourselves with our rulers.  It is better for you to be persecuted because of your righteousness than for actually being disobedient.

We are called to love our enemies, for if we only love the people that love us how do we distinguish ourselves from those who don’t know Christ (as Christ says, from the tax collectors and the pagans)?  I do not want to say that the people who voted for Obama should be viewed as our enemies, but I am only addressing those who FEEL the people who voted for Obama are our enemies.

These people have been making statements like “I am cutting myself off from anyone who voted for Obama”.  One person even threatened to cut themselves off from family members who voted for Obama.  Now, these are Christians that I am seeing making these comments.  To be sure, there are even more non-Christians making these hateful statements, but I cannot appeal to them through Christ since Christ is not their King.

This is not the Godly way for us to live.  This is not a witness to Christ and His Kingdom.  Rather, we should not wish to be cut off from people who might be lost.  We should love them and desire to stay connected to them all the more.  If we cut ourselves off from the lost, how do we share the Good News with them?

So love our rulers, respect and honor them because of your love for Christ, not for them.  Love those who voted for Obama.  Stay connected and be a witness to them of the power of Christ’s Kingdom.  Love One another as Christ loves us, a Christ who died on the cross for our sins even before we pledged our love, our loyalty, our obedience to Him.

Fear and faith do not walk hand in hand.  Fear the Lord, not the land.  And through your love of our one true King, Christ, love those around you, whether you feel they are your friends, your family, or even your enemies.

It’s all about these “czars”, these unofficially appointed regulators from on high who believe, led by the likes of the “master czar”, Cass Sunstein, that they can use regulations to “nudge” people against their will to accept things that, if they were honestly revealed to them, they might reject.

What is worse is this is ALL intentionally designed to take the power reserve by our LAW (the Constitution) from our hands and put it in the hands of a Presidential regime that can make law (disguised as “regulations”) even in opposition to the actual laws passed by Congress.

That might be all well and good if you happen to be among the 20% of the People who would be  classified ideologically as “leftists” or “progressives”, but imagine, if you are a Progressive, how the shoe could be on the OTHER foot, how a Presidential regime under the tenure of  your opponents could use those powers?

Unlike many other books, this book actually offers a straightforward approach to handling the problem of our emergent Presidential “czardom”- the answer is to reign in the regulators by forcing YOUR member of Congress to take responsibility for legislating away from Cass Sunstein and his merry band of utopian schemers and put that power BACK in the hands of the People through their ELECTED officials.

Anyone who doesn’t agree with reigning in the regulators, even IF they agree with those regulators, doesn’t believe in democracy. Period.

2. Thou Shalt Have A Strong dollar.

4. Thou Shalt Not Over-Regulate the People
Whatever good you think a “regulation” will do, ALL regulation transfers the decision-making authority away from the individual, the community, private entities, and the individual states to the entity that is making the regulation. If you think you can “regulate” away all problems and all risks, or use regulation to make things “fair” or “just”, you are mistaken- you will only end up increase the power of a few over the many and the result will be gigantism without any of the benefits the regulation was meant to deliver.

5. Thou Shalt Have Only A Limited Government.
The notion that you can justify giving something like 30% of ALL wealth that the People produce, over 30% of the LAND in this nation, and almost 50% or so of ALL decision-making powers to 9 supreme court justices, a president, and 535 legislators without seeing serious abuses of power at the expense of the rights, the property, and the welfare of the People is a Utopian fantasy. Those who pursue gigantism in government can use whatever high-sounding terminology they LIKE, but in the end, they are either foolishly ignorant of how dangerous giving such powers to a FEW people is OR they actually WANT that power.

It is true that there must always be restraint in favor of ethics, fairness, and even the common good, but the best judge of what should be produced and how much it should cost must be the People, as individuals who invest, who own businesses, who work, who sell, and who buy good and services. When this basic freedom is removed it delivers only inefficiency, more gigantism, and nothing good for the People, be they well off or poor or in between.

The “middling sort”, as Benjamin Franklin described himself and his friends, the artisans, shop keepers, and entrepreneurs who started with nothing, gave MUCH, and produced wealth for themselves and MANY OTHERS around them, were the “agents of transformation” in 1776 and they have always been the “prime mover” of our nation. The only groups who ever benefit from nationalization of any kind and by ANY name, are the people who get rich off government favors and the people who run the government- nobody else, which includes over 95% of the population, benefits.

9. Thou Shalt Have A Strong Defense.
Regardless of the myth-makers on your TV and in your newspapers, the Cold War was won because the United States of America was STRONG and the Soviets could not keep up with our advances in technology nor in raw capabilities, or firepower. It was the people manning SOSUS who tracked Soviet subs, the people who funded and manned all those “non-wars”, and the men and women of the US Military who proved to be too great an obstacle to Soviet ambitions who ended the Cold War, and those of us who were THERE will always be proud of this and will not simply let those who all the while told us we would fail try to take away from this glorious result of the Reagan revolution!

10. Thou Shalt Reform Welfare
We could even refer to this commandment as “Thou Shalt Not Promote Dependency”. Why does the Bible itself say that those who do not work should not eat? Meeting our own needs, being independent of others, being self-reliant is not just a way to live well, it is an experience that is in and of itself enjoyable and fulfilling like few other experiences. Conservative Victory Project- a Tea Party Attack PAC?

Conservative Victory Project President interviewed by National Review-

Paul Collier- A review

Steven J Law, the President of Karl Rove’s Tea Party Attack Super PAC, ‘Conservative Victory’, was interviewed by Jim Geraghty of National Review. The interview was not hard hitting and read like an Obama interview on 60 minutes. Geraghty failed to address the recent meltdown by ACP spokeman, Jonathan Collegio, who attacked Bret Bozell, calling him a hater, and laughed at conservative leaders who demanded Steven Law and Karl Rove fire him for his outright hostility against respected conservative leaders.

Geraghty seems to be doing the job of a paid ‘consultant’ or reputation manager, giving Law legitimacy and an opportunity to gloss over the true anti Tea-Party, anti-conservative nature of the progressive-lite front group that is the Conservative Victory Project and all other PACS and leaders who march to the drum of would-be kingmaker Karl Rove.

The article starts off immediately revealing Geraghty’s either ineptness as a journalist or secret agenda to legitimize Law and this faux conservative and actual Tea Party Attack Pac:

Jim Geraghty: You guys have stirred up quite a reaction since the New York Times article Sunday. So, think of this as a second shot: What do you want to tell the conservative grass roots about the Conservative Victory Project, and is there anything that’s gotten misconstrued since that piece appeared?

Steven Law: I actually didn’t think the New York Times piece was that far off. I think it ended up being misinterpreted following the initial reporting.

This is how the NY Times Reporter, Jeff Zeleny, identified the Conservative Victory Project:

The biggest donors in the Republican Party are financing a new group to recruit seasoned candidates and protect Senate incumbents from challenges by far-right conservatives and Tea Party enthusiasts who Republican leaders worry could complicate the party’s efforts to win control of the Senate.

The group, the Conservative Victory Project, is intended to counter other organizations that have helped defeat establishment Republican candidates over the last two election cycles. It is the most robust attempt yet by Republicans to impose a new sense of discipline on the party, particularly in primary races.

Now I ask you, where is the follow up question to this- like-

(Imagined Geraghty)- if the NY Times essentially got it right, then the Conservative Victory Project is a PAC created to prevent the ‘far right’ element of the GOP from having a candidate emerge in the GOP primaries. Is that a fair assessment? And if so, how was that misreported afterwards?

Law reveals that the true nature of the PAC is to prevent non-political class candidates from emerging as general election nominees for the GOP (Gooder Old Progressives):

“One of the things that has concerned us is that our candidates have lagged significantly behind in being able to support their own campaigns financially.”

Who can support their campaign financially? Well, it would be the members of the political class who have built up a network of wealthy donors and political elites ready to throw their money to prop up ‘one of their own’. Geraghty once again failed to follow up for some clarity on this seemingly inflammatory answer.

Here Garaghty asks a question about Steve King:

Geraghty: I noticed the only candidate mentioned much in the New York Times article was Iowa Republican congressman Steve King, who’s being discussed as a potential Senate candidate.

Law: What I commented on, in regards to the Senate race in Iowa, was only to raise the example of past statements and how they can potentially be a liability for someone. We haven’t ruled anybody in or out for the Iowa Senate race, and we haven’t even determined if we would be involved in that primary.

Once again, Geraghty offered no follow up. He let Law escape an attempt to lessen the stinging impact of what was ACTUALLY said in the NY Times article:

Representative Steve King, a six-term Iowa Republican, could be among the earliest targets of the Conservative Victory Project. He said he had not decided whether he would run for the Senate, but the leaders of the project in Washington are not waiting to try to steer him away from the race.

The group’s plans, which were outlined for the first time last week in an interview with Mr. Law, call for hard-edge campaign tactics, including television advertising, against candidates whom party leaders see as unelectable and a drag on the efforts to win the Senate. Mr. Law cited Iowa as an example and said Republicans could no longer be squeamish about intervening in primary fights.

The follow-up questioning would be-

(Imagined Geraghty) – According to the NY Times article, King would be considered a primary target by your super PAC. Why are you now backing off what Zeleny stated in his article, that King would be a target? Is it true that you cited Iowa as a primary example of the work your super PAC would do? Is King not conservative enough or is he, in fact, TOO conservative, TOO ‘right-wing’?

I think if I was interviewing this man, I would have started off with these questions:

Do you fear the ‘right wing’ of the GOP? Is the Tea Party part of this right wing? What defines a right winger?

But as I was not the interviewer, and assuming, if I was the interviewer, I wasn’t completely inept, or I wasn’t either part of the political class protecting one of my own, or simply on the take (directly or indirectly), these questions were not asked by a man who was representing the publication of the late, great William F Buckley started.

The irony is not lost here given the dust-up around the spokesman for the Tea Party Attack Pac, Jonathan Collegio. It is chilling, not interesting, chilling that this representative of William F Buckley’s Publication was dead silent on the controversy that is setting the conservative blog world on fire around this paradigm of hate, Jonathan Collegio. Could it be that a pre-interview agreement was made between National Review and Law to not ask any questions about the Collegio Affair?

Here is a capsule of the ‘Collegio Affair’ so you understand what I am talking about:

A group of conservatives on Wednesday called on American Crossroads to fire its spokesman, Jonathan Collegio, for calling conservative commentator Brent Bozell a “hater.”

Collegio went on WMAL in Washington, D.C. Wednesday morning and said Bozell is a “hater” for opposing American Crossroads’ new offshoot, the Conservative Victory Project, a super PAC aiming to back disciplined Republican candidates to win back a majority in the Senate.

“Bozell is a hater, and he also, like, has a long, sordid history, like, hating Karl Rove, too. So he has, like, a weird personal axe to grind,” Collegio said.

In a letter, a number of conservative activists — including Mark Levin and Tony Perkins — called on American Crossroads president and CEO Steven Law to fire Collegio.

“We, the free men and women of this great nation, affirm everyone’s natural right to speak their mind, but we cannot and will not abide the unjust, personal broadside your aide Jonathan Collegio leveled against a man whose family has dedicated itself to advancing the cause of liberty for over half a century,” they wrote in a letter.

The letter added that Bozell is a “legacy” in the conservative movement. “He has devoted his life to the cause of American conservatism as did his father, Brent Bozell II, who wrote ‘Conscience of a Conservative’ for Barry Goldwater. Maybe you’ve heard of Brent’s uncle, Bill Buckley, whose words you misquote and twist as the basis for your organization enough to falsely suggest you know something about him. You may have heard of his other uncle, Jim Buckley, a former U.S. Senator, or Brent’s mother, Patricia Buckley Bozell—both important figures and writers in our conservative movement.”

I intentionally used a progressive news blog to highlight the glee the Left is experiencing over this erupting civil war, a war Rove made clear, a war, it seems, the publication of William F Buckley (whose conservative values would also be deemed ‘right wing’ by this Tea Party Attack PAC) is going to join up with Rove and his political class protectionists to fight.

Here is what Law says about some controversial candidates who serve as an example of who this Tea Party Attack PAC would have targeted-

…other candidates, such as Richard Mourdock, Todd Akin, and Ken Buck, manifested a habit of saying very impolitic things long before they ended up popping off with something that immediately ended their campaign.

Mourdock was a credible candidate who had already run a successful state-wide campaign. After he made his comments, though not artfully stated, the GOP elites simply withdrew their support of Mourdock and even joined in the attack against him. What Akin said was beyond the pale, but what Mourdock said was not. The surrender monkeys of the GOP simply refused to back Mourdock.

While Geraghty offered some follow up regarding Mourdock, pointing out that Mourdock did win a state-wide general election already, and that before that guffaw he was a ‘credible’ candidate, he did not challenge Law on the assumption of why Mourdock lost, the GOP elites abandoned him.

This same cause and effect assumption is made by Law regarding the 2010 Delaware Election:

There’s a general feeling that candidates who were nominated in Indiana and Missouri this time basically lost races that should have been won. There’s also a feeling that candidates who were nominated in Delaware, Colorado, and Nevada in 2010 also blew opportunities for us.

Regarding Delaware, Karl Rove attacked Christine O’Donnell during and AFTER the GOP Primary. He demeaned her and dismissed her. He pulled his strings to make sure the GOP itself refused to give her even basic support. He attempted to bribe the Tea Party to not support her during the GOP Primary. Her primary opponent, and Rove-like progressive-lite, Mike Castle, refused to even endorse her in the general election against Chris Coons.

O’Donnell did not lose this election so much because she wasn’t the best performing, competent candidate (have you seen the ineptness and droll presence of her patrician opponent, Chris Coons?), but because Rove and the GOP elites not only refused to support her, they regularly aided Chris Coons by attacking and demeaning O’Donnell almost daily.

Geraghty, once again, failed to follow up on this erroneous point by the President of the Tea Party Attack Pack, Steven J Law.

It is unconscionable that William F Buckley’s publication would endeavor so aggressively to legitimize and attempt to rehabilitate the reputation of this conservative-hating organ ironically called “Conservative Victory Project”. It is a violation of basic journalistic integrity that the interviewer, Jim Geraghty, would fail on any major point to hold Law up to the scrutiny he should have been held up to, that Geraghty didn’t even ask Law ONE QUESTION about the Collegio affair.

Instead, Geraghty created a puff piece for the purpose of legitimizing and holding the water of ‘one of their own’. He played the part of any of the reporters from 60 minutes interviewing Barack Obama, played here by Steven J Law, the Karl Rove proxy.

President Barack Obama has long pushed the bounds of Presidential power in how his administration has used Social Networking, Web Publishing to push the narratives out the administration wants to see advanced.  Has the President gone too far with the latest use of whitehouse.gov?  The site’s front page has become a glorified ‘squeeze page’ to sell gun control to the American people.

This administration has, in effect, become a political advertisement for anti-gun rights advocates, and you, the American people, are paying for the marketing.

When you go to the site, you will get a giant pop-up ad instead of getting resources from the White House.  They have essentially turned public property, the White House website, into a political advocacy site.  Here is what the popup looks like-

It would appear they are trying to create a twitter/facebook bomb to move Senators and Congressmen to vote in favor of gun control.  Is this a justifiable use of our public property, the White House website?  Is it appropriate for the President to so overtly utilize property that is intended to serve the public, and not to advance their own political campaign efforsts?  As a web marketer, I can tell you the monetary value of the White House offering its site to build a massive Twitter/Facebook bomb would be in the hundreds of thousands.  This is, effectively, a political ad being organized by public officials on our dime, using our property to do it.

It is self-evident that the idea that any human being is 100% “objective” is just plain impossible to achieve. Fairness requires that, rather than pretending to follow an ideal that nobody can follow, those reporters and editors/publishers and owners owe it to their public to be honest about what their perspective is.

We also believe in a people-people local government that SHOULD in effect , even if we cannot literally create a new governing structure due to legal constraints, be sort of like a “consensual democracy” (the New England Town Meeting is like that) bound by the original spirit and intent of the Bill of Rights as the basis of freedom for ALL persons in this land, without prejudice or favor.

Martin Luther King Jr said it so well when he said that a man should be judged NOT by the color of his skin but by the content of his character.

He or she should also not be judged on the basis of their sex, where they live, who they know, their socio-economic class, their past mistakes, their age, their creed, or national origin.

In short, everyone, men and women, ought to be able to live out freedom according to the original spirit and intent of the Bill of Rights in recognition that PEOPLE and not the state are the vehicle and agent of historical change.

President Barack Obama has long pushed the bounds of Presidential power in how his administration has used Social Networking, Web Publishing to push the narratives out the administration wants to see advanced.  Has the President gone too far with the latest use of whitehouse.gov?  The site’s front page has become a glorified ‘squeeze page’ to sell gun control to the American people.

This administration has, in effect, become a political advertisement for anti-gun rights advocates, and you, the American people, are paying for the marketing.

When you go to the site, you will get a giant pop-up ad instead of getting resources from the White House.  They have essentially turned public property, the White House website, into a political advocacy site.  Here is what the popup looks like-

It would appear they are trying to create a twitter/facebook bomb to move Senators and Congressmen to vote in favor of gun control.  Is this a justifiable use of our public property, the White House website?  Is it appropriate for the President to so overtly utilize property that is intended to serve the public, and not to advance their own political campaign efforsts?  As a web marketer, I can tell you the monetary value of the White House offering its site to build a massive Twitter/Facebook bomb would be in the hundreds of thousands.  This is, effectively, a political ad being organized by public officials on our dime, using our property to do it.

Steven J Law, the President of Karl Rove’s Tea Party Attack Super PAC, ‘Conservative Victory’, was interviewed by Jim Geraghty of National Review. The interview was not hard hitting and read like an Obama interview on 60 minutes. Geraghty failed to address the recent meltdown by ACP spokeman, Jonathan Collegio, who attacked Bret Bozell, calling him a hater, and laughed at conservative leaders who demanded Steven Law and Karl Rove fire him for his outright hostility against respected conservative leaders.

Geraghty seems to be doing the job of a paid ‘consultant’ or reputation manager, giving Law legitimacy and an opportunity to gloss over the true anti Tea-Party, anti-conservative nature of the progressive-lite front group that is the Conservative Victory Project and all other PACS and leaders who march to the drum of would-be kingmaker Karl Rove.

The article starts off immediately revealing Geraghty’s either ineptness as a journalist or secret agenda to legitimize Law and this faux conservative and actual Tea Party Attack Pac:

Jim Geraghty: You guys have stirred up quite a reaction since the New York Times article Sunday. So, think of this as a second shot: What do you want to tell the conservative grass roots about the Conservative Victory Project, and is there anything that’s gotten misconstrued since that piece appeared?

Steven Law: I actually didn’t think the New York Times piece was that far off. I think it ended up being misinterpreted following the initial reporting.

This is how the NY Times Reporter, Jeff Zeleny, identified the Conservative Victory Project:

The biggest donors in the Republican Party are financing a new group to recruit seasoned candidates and protect Senate incumbents from challenges by far-right conservatives and Tea Party enthusiasts who Republican leaders worry could complicate the party’s efforts to win control of the Senate.

The group, the Conservative Victory Project, is intended to counter other organizations that have helped defeat establishment Republican candidates over the last two election cycles. It is the most robust attempt yet by Republicans to impose a new sense of discipline on the party, particularly in primary races.

(Imagined Geraghty)- if the NY Times essentially got it right, then the Conservative Victory Project is a PAC created to prevent the ‘far right’ element of the GOP from having a candidate emerge in the GOP primaries. Is that a fair assessment? And if so, how was that misreported afterwards?

Law reveals that the true nature of the PAC is to prevent non-political class candidates from emerging as general election nominees for the GOP (Gooder Old Progressives):

“One of the things that has concerned us is that our candidates have lagged significantly behind in being able to support their own campaigns financially.”

Who can support their campaign financially? Well, it would be the members of the political class who have built up a network of wealthy donors and political elites ready to throw their money to prop up ‘one of their own’. Geraghty once again failed to follow up for some clarity on this seemingly inflammatory answer.

Here Garaghty asks a question about Steve King:

Geraghty: I noticed the only candidate mentioned much in the New York Times article was Iowa Republican congressman Steve King, who’s being discussed as a potential Senate candidate.

Law: What I commented on, in regards to the Senate race in Iowa, was only to raise the example of past statements and how they can potentially be a liability for someone. We haven’t ruled anybody in or out for the Iowa Senate race, and we haven’t even determined if we would be involved in that primary.

Once again, Geraghty offered no follow up. He let Law escape an attempt to lessen the stinging impact of what was ACTUALLY said in the NY Times article:

Representative Steve King, a six-term Iowa Republican, could be among the earliest targets of the Conservative Victory Project. He said he had not decided whether he would run for the Senate, but the leaders of the project in Washington are not waiting to try to steer him away from the race.

The group’s plans, which were outlined for the first time last week in an interview with Mr. Law, call for hard-edge campaign tactics, including television advertising, against candidates whom party leaders see as unelectable and a drag on the efforts to win the Senate. Mr. Law cited Iowa as an example and said Republicans could no longer be squeamish about intervening in primary fights.

The follow-up questioning would be-

(Imagined Geraghty) – According to the NY Times article, King would be considered a primary target by your super PAC. Why are you now backing off what Zeleny stated in his article, that King would be a target? Is it true that you cited Iowa as a primary example of the work your super PAC would do? Is King not conservative enough or is he, in fact, TOO conservative, TOO ‘right-wing’?

I think if I was interviewing this man, I would have started off with these questions:

Do you fear the ‘right wing’ of the GOP? Is the Tea Party part of this right wing? What defines a right winger?

But as I was not the interviewer, and assuming, if I was the interviewer, I wasn’t completely inept, or I wasn’t either part of the political class protecting one of my own, or simply on the take (directly or indirectly), these questions were not asked by a man who was representing the publication of the late, great William F Buckley started.

The irony is not lost here given the dust-up around the spokesman for the Tea Party Attack Pac, Jonathan Collegio. It is chilling, not interesting, chilling that this representative of William F Buckley’s Publication was dead silent on the controversy that is setting the conservative blog world on fire around this paradigm of hate, Jonathan Collegio. Could it be that a pre-interview agreement was made between National Review and Law to not ask any questions about the Collegio Affair?

Here is a capsule of the ‘Collegio Affair’ so you understand what I am talking about:

A group of conservatives on Wednesday called on American Crossroads to fire its spokesman, Jonathan Collegio, for calling conservative commentator Brent Bozell a “hater.”

Collegio went on WMAL in Washington, D.C. Wednesday morning and said Bozell is a “hater” for opposing American Crossroads’ new offshoot, the Conservative Victory Project, a super PAC aiming to back disciplined Republican candidates to win back a majority in the Senate.

“Bozell is a hater, and he also, like, has a long, sordid history, like, hating Karl Rove, too. So he has, like, a weird personal axe to grind,” Collegio said.

In a letter, a number of conservative activists — including Mark Levin and Tony Perkins — called on American Crossroads president and CEO Steven Law to fire Collegio.

“We, the free men and women of this great nation, affirm everyone’s natural right to speak their mind, but we cannot and will not abide the unjust, personal broadside your aide Jonathan Collegio leveled against a man whose family has dedicated itself to advancing the cause of liberty for over half a century,” they wrote in a letter.

The letter added that Bozell is a “legacy” in the conservative movement. “He has devoted his life to the cause of American conservatism as did his father, Brent Bozell II, who wrote ‘Conscience of a Conservative’ for Barry Goldwater. Maybe you’ve heard of Brent’s uncle, Bill Buckley, whose words you misquote and twist as the basis for your organization enough to falsely suggest you know something about him. You may have heard of his other uncle, Jim Buckley, a former U.S. Senator, or Brent’s mother, Patricia Buckley Bozell—both important figures and writers in our conservative movement.”

I intentionally used a progressive news blog to highlight the glee the Left is experiencing over this erupting civil war, a war Rove made clear, a war, it seems, the publication of William F Buckley (whose conservative values would also be deemed ‘right wing’ by this Tea Party Attack PAC) is going to join up with Rove and his political class protectionists to fight.

Here is what Law says about some controversial candidates who serve as an example of who this Tea Party Attack PAC would have targeted-

…other candidates, such as Richard Mourdock, Todd Akin, and Ken Buck, manifested a habit of saying very impolitic things long before they ended up popping off with something that immediately ended their campaign.

Mourdock was a credible candidate who had already run a successful state-wide campaign. After he made his comments, though not artfully stated, the GOP elites simply withdrew their support of Mourdock and even joined in the attack against him. What Akin said was beyond the pale, but what Mourdock said was not. The surrender monkeys of the GOP simply refused to back Mourdock.

While Geraghty offered some follow up regarding Mourdock, pointing out that Mourdock did win a state-wide general election already, and that before that guffaw he was a ‘credible’ candidate, he did not challenge Law on the assumption of why Mourdock lost, the GOP elites abandoned him.

This same cause and effect assumption is made by Law regarding the 2010 Delaware Election:

There’s a general feeling that candidates who were nominated in Indiana and Missouri this time basically lost races that should have been won. There’s also a feeling that candidates who were nominated in Delaware, Colorado, and Nevada in 2010 also blew opportunities for us.

Regarding Delaware, Karl Rove attacked Christine O’Donnell during and AFTER the GOP Primary. He demeaned her and dismissed her. He pulled his strings to make sure the GOP itself refused to give her even basic support. He attempted to bribe the Tea Party to not support her during the GOP Primary. Her primary opponent, and Rove-like progressive-lite, Mike Castle, refused to even endorse her in the general election against Chris Coons.

O’Donnell did not lose this election so much because she wasn’t the best performing, competent candidate (have you seen the ineptness and droll presence of her patrician opponent, Chris Coons?), but because Rove and the GOP elites not only refused to support her, they regularly aided Chris Coons by attacking and demeaning O’Donnell almost daily.

Geraghty, once again, failed to follow up on this erroneous point by the President of the Tea Party Attack Pack, Steven J Law.

It is unconscionable that William F Buckley’s publication would endeavor so aggressively to legitimize and attempt to rehabilitate the reputation of this conservative-hating organ ironically called “Conservative Victory Project”. It is a violation of basic journalistic integrity that the interviewer, Jim Geraghty, would fail on any major point to hold Law up to the scrutiny he should have been held up to, that Geraghty didn’t even ask Law ONE QUESTION about the Collegio affair.

Instead, Geraghty created a puff piece for the purpose of legitimizing and holding the water of ‘one of their own’. He played the part of any of the reporters from 60 minutes interviewing Barack Obama, played here by Steven J Law, the Karl Rove proxy.
