Fight for freedom, liberty

Centuries later, those people cannot pray in the name of Jesus, but Muslims can bow by the thousands in our capital and pray to their god. Well-meaning people have created a society where anything goes unless it is Christian or based upon biblical values. We don’t want to offend anyone, so it has become unconstitutional to pray in Jesus’ name at any governmental function.

When I was young, we had prayer and Bible reading start every school day. Today, you cannot do that. Where do the politically correct get their dumb ideas? I’ve never seen anyone converted by our reading the Bible and saying a short prayer, but we showed respect to God, listened then bowed our heads while prayer was said.

Americans are a people who have fought and died for freedom and liberty. How can we let the politically correct say we have no right to pray? If the city council wants to have prayer in Jesus’ name, stand out on the sidewalk, hold hands and pray. Perhaps some of those folk who smoke and have already had their rights taken away will join you. Maybe your calling upon God will change things.

We may then have a little compassion on those poor folks hooked on cigarettes who have to stand out in the heat, cold and rain to enjoy a product that makes our government billions in taxes. I don’t smoke, haven’t since 1982, and am glad I don’t, but I see American citizens bound by legalistic stupidity. My son bought us a steak at a restaurant, and as I enjoyed it, I looked out the windows at folks shivering in the cold to smoke a cigarette.

Afterward, I went to church, but I still felt those poor people were treated like dogs by a government that is supposed to protect their rights.

Smokers are usually poor, yet they pay $5 for something that shouldn’t cost 50 cents. Where have their dollars gone? Do you know anyone those taxes helped quit smoking? If we don’t stop government from taking away our rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, we will have no freedoms at all. I dare governmental bodies to gather for prayer before going into public session.

Are you American? If you are, then stand up for your right to worship the god you choose. Don’t let judges and politicians rob your freedoms one at a time. Choose liberty and stand up for your rights. How can you expect God to bless an America that has turned its back on him? All the blessings we have enjoyed came from him, but America has made money its god, and all it is is a piece of paper.
